After crashing out of the 500m and 1500m races at the Winter Olympics, Elsie Christie is hoping to be fit enough to compete in the 1000m after x-rays revealed that she had not suffered any broken bones.

The 27-year-old, who was injured after crashing out of her 1500m semi-final, specialises in the 1000m and will be desperate to compete.

Speaking to the BBC, Christie’s boyfriend Liu Shaolin, confirmed that x-rays on his partner’s injured ankle came back clear and when asked if she’ll be able to compete in the 1000m events, he simply replied “hopefully”.

Christie also recorded a short message to post on social media to confirm that her x-rays were clear and that her and her team “would do their best to get [her ankle] fixed” in time to compete in her favourite event.
