Elise Christie crashed out of the women’s 1,500m short track speed skating in the semi-finals with a heavy fall on the final turn, and has been taken to hospital.
Christie, 27, collided with China’s Li Jinyu on the final lap as she tried to finish in the top two, however, a top three finish would’ve been enough to see her qualify.
Medical staff were quick to get to the British skater after the incident, and shortly after the race concluded, Christie was stretchered off in tears and has since been taken to hospital to be assessed.
The crash could come at a cost for the rest of the games as she appeared to injure her ankle in the impact with the wall.
Having already missed out on a medal in the 500m, Christie only has the 1,000m left in which to end her Olympic drought, however, her ability to compete may be in doubt after the disastrous crash.
