Katherine Grainger has wrote herself into the history books as the most decorated female Olympian after securing a silver with her partner Victoria Thornley in the women’s sculls.

With 300 metres to go it looked like she would become the greatest ever Brit with a gold but Polish pair Kozlowska Fularczyk and Natalia Madaj Magdalena stole the march.

Still, it was a special moment for Grainger and her partner Victoria Thornley.

It was Grainger’s fifth medal in her fifth Olympic games appearance.

She overtakes swimmer Rebecca Adlington who claimed four medals and tops the ten most successful female British Olympian’s that includes Kelly Holmes, Victoria Pendleton and Sarah Webb Gosling.

We have decided to document all five of her Olympic medals so you can relive her journey to being the greatest ever female British Olympian.

The achievement is special and will take some beating with only cyclist Laura Trott close to her five medals.
